Patellar Femoral Pain Syndrome

What is Patellar Femoral Pain Syndrome?

Patellar Femoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is a very common, but complicated way to describe, pain that occurs from knee cap issues.

Do you have pain when climbing stairs? Do your knees get sore if you walk for prolonged distances? Do you have knee pain when you jump or hop? You likely are dealing with some level of PFPS!

PFPS occurs when the knee cap does not track perfectly in the groove it was designed to. This poor tracking causes pain and limits activity.

Fortunately, physical therapy is an effective tool to resolve PFPS!

At MOMENTUM Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab, located in Okotoks, our physical therapists are trained to evaluate sore knees to determine if knee cap tracking is the cause of your pain and how to best manage your discomfort. With some hands on treatment, specific exercises, and corrective taping, we can teach your body how to better control your knees and prevent your knee pain. Most people are often surprised to find that their knee pain is actually caused by weakness in the hips!

If you are dealing with PFPS, or any knee pain, call MOMENTUM today to find out how we can get that knee feeling better again. 403-982-5600
